Glamping Lesser Poland
Lesser Poland is the country's historical and natural heartland, a region where the Tatras, the highest mountains in the Polish Carpathians, rise as an alpine wall of snow-capped peaks and mountain lakes of breathtaking beauty. Glamping in Lesser Poland lets you experience this high-mountain nature from accommodation that pairs traditional timber architecture with contemporary comforts, overlooking peaks exceeding 2,000 metres.
But the region is far more than mountains: Krakow, Poland's former capital, offers one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, and the southern hills conceal villages with timber churches inscribed as World Heritage Sites, centuries-old salt mines, and a hearty mountain gastronomy. Glamping in Lesser Poland is an immersion in the most authentic and diverse Poland.

The Tatras: high mountains in Poland
The Polish Tatras, though compact, offer alpine scenery of the first order. Morskie Oko, a glacial lake ringed by sheer walls, is Poland's most popular hiking destination. The ascent of Rysy, at 2,499 metres the country's highest peak, demands experience but rewards with panoramas spanning Poland and Slovakia. Zakopane, Poland's winter capital, is the base for exploring these peaks. The PTTK mountain refuges offer overnight stays and homemade food at accessible prices.
Krakow: Poland's medieval jewel
Krakow is one of the most beautiful cities in central Europe, with a medieval Market Square flanked by the Basilica of St Mary and its trumpeters sounding the hejnal every hour. Wawel Castle, the residence of Polish kings, commands the Vistula with its cathedral and art collections. The Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, revitalised after decades of neglect, buzzes with cafes, galleries and restored synagogues. Krakow is the perfect cultural day trip from a glamping site in the region.
The Wieliczka salt mines
The Wieliczka salt mines, worked since the thirteenth century, are an underground world of chambers carved in salt, with chapels adorned with sculptures, chandeliers and floors all hewn from rock salt. The Chapel of St Kinga, 101 metres below ground, is a subterranean cathedral with biblical reliefs carved by the miners. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the mines offer a three-kilometre route through galleries revealing centuries of mining history.
Mountain gastronomy and oscypek
The cuisine of the Podhale, the mountain region beneath the Tatras, is filling and flavoursome. Oscypek, smoked sheep's-milk cheese shaped into a spindle and decorated with carved motifs, is the star product, served grilled with cranberries. Kwasnica, a sauerkraut soup with pork ribs, warms you after a winter's outing. Pierogi, filled with cheese and potato or with wild mushrooms, are served in karczma, rustic restaurants decked out in wood with live folk music.
Glamping in Lesser Poland brings together the Tatras, the most spectacular mountains in central Europe, with the cultural richness of Krakow and the rural heritage of the Polish Carpathians. The region offers accessible high-mountain nature and a living culture.
Lesser Poland glamping accommodation sits in the valleys of the Podhale, the mountain region at the foot of the Tatras, and in the hills of the Beskids where spruce and beech forests create storybook landscapes. Proximity to Krakow allows mountain and culture to be combined.
Lesser Poland is a glamping destination with excellent value for money, ideal for hikers, nature lovers and cultural travellers seeking a region where mountain tradition remains alive in architecture, music and gastronomy.
