Glamping Pomerania

Pomerania is Poland's window onto the Baltic Sea, a region of golden sandy beaches, pine forests reaching down to the shore, and Hanseatic cities preserving the grandeur of their trading past. Glamping in Pomerania delivers the Polish Baltic experience from accommodation among dunes, beside inland lakes, and in the forests of the Slowinski National Park, where shifting dunes create an almost desert-like landscape beside the sea.

Gdansk, the city of amber and Hanseatic architecture painstakingly rebuilt after the war, is the region's cultural capital. But Pomerania's charm also lies in its fishing villages, its solitary lighthouses, and the Hel Peninsula, a 34-kilometre spit of sand stretching into the Baltic and sheltering the Bay of Gdansk. Pomeranian glamping is sea breeze, Baltic forests and warm hospitality.

Gdansk: amber, history and craft beer

Gdansk is one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic, with a Long Street flanked by patrician houses faithfully reconstructed after the destruction of 1945. The Golden Gate, the Neptune Fountain and St Mary's Church, the largest brick church in the world, are highlights of a fascinating architectural walk. Amber Street offers jewellery and crafts made from the fossilised resin that the Baltic casts up on its beaches. The craft breweries along the quays have revitalised the night-time scene.

The shifting dunes of Slowinski National Park

Slowinski National Park protects the largest shifting dunes in central Europe, sand mountains up to 42 metres high that advance several metres a year, burying forests in their path. The landscape recalls the Sahara but with the Baltic Sea on the horizon. The coastal lakes of Lebsko and Gardno, separated from the sea by the dunes, support a rich birdlife. Walking routes from Leba let you climb the dunes and contemplate one of the most singular geological phenomena in Europe.

The Hel Peninsula and its beaches

The Hel Peninsula is a 34-kilometre spit of sand stretching into the Baltic, with beaches on both sides: those to the north face the open sea with waves and wind, those to the south are sheltered in the Bay of Gdansk with warmer, calmer water. Hel, the village at the tip, has a seal aquarium and authentic fishing-village character. Jurata and Jastarnia are the intermediate resort towns. The coastal train running the length of the peninsula offers unique views.

Kashubia: lakes and Slavic culture

Kashubia, in the Pomeranian interior, is a region of moraine hills, glacial lakes and forests where the Kashubians maintain a living cultural identity with their own language, colourful embroidery and a cuisine based on lake fish, potatoes and forest mushrooms. The landscape recalls a miniature Switzerland, with undulations that contrast with the flat coast. Lakes Wdzydze and Ostrzyckie are perfect for kayaking and fishing, with glamping sites right on the water.

Kashubia: lakes and Slavic culture

Glamping in Pomerania lets you discover the Baltic coast of Poland from accommodation woven into the coastal and forest landscape. The region combines extensive beaches, historic cities and national parks of great ecological value.

Pomeranian glamping accommodation is distributed between the Baltic coast, with options among dunes and pine woods, and the inland lakeland of Kashubia, with lakes and hills of glacial origin. The Tricity of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia offers culture and services.

Pomerania is a rising glamping destination with attractive prices and well-preserved nature. The shifting dunes of Slowinski, the beaches of Sopot and the Hel Peninsula are the main natural draws, whilst Gdansk contributes heritage, gastronomy and nightlife.
